T4 Total is also known as thyroxine, which is the main form of thyroid hormone made by the thyroid gland. Majority of T4 is bound to proteins, while a small proportion is unbound or free which is known as "Free T4". The "FreeT4" testing measures the amount of free harmone i.e., the free T4 (unbound).
